Commemorating Armistice Day A Century On

11 November 2018 marks 100 years since the end of fighting in World War I, though most surviving Australian service personnel did not return home until 1919.

All faced the question of ‘what next?’ and University of Melbourne numbers swelled as returned soldiers took advantage of a fee support scheme offered by the Repatriation Commission - over half the post-war students in Engineering were returned students. We have also recently listed over 400 photographs from the Ray Jones collection. Jones was a soldier who fought in Egypt, Gallipoli and on the Western Front. The listing was completed by two students from the Monash University History Archives Workshop.
